The Center for Advanced Academics is an independent, non-profit organization, home to the Online Academy and Project A programs, which provide challenging curriculum for advanced learners throughout Wisconsin. Our website addresses are:

The Center for Advanced Academics openly supports the guidelines set forth by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We protect our client’s data and personal information as well as data generated by contact with our clients including surveys, grades, and evaluations. The Center does not sell, rent, trade or distribute any personally identifiable information obtained from clients to a third party except in cooperation with government agencies or as required by law.  Information collected by The Center for Advanced Academics is used for The Center for Advanced Academics’ operational purposes only.

Data Collection

We require Registration Application Users to provide limited information in connection to user logins, passwords, and usage and compliance. As part of our registration process, subscribers are asked to voluntarily submit limited personal information in order to create an account. This information (including user and parent’s name, user grade, contact email address, school attendance, etc.) is kept within the usage of The Center for Advanced Academics, The Center for Advanced Academics will not and do not sell personal information to third parties.

Security

The Center for Advanced Academics does not directly handle sensitive information (such as credit card numbers) on our registration or order forms. 

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, we use an SSL connection to transmit student grade information over the Internet, and we store student information in a secure database. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we do use and constantly strive to update our processes for protecting your personal information, we cannot and do not guarantee the information’s absolute security.

Cookies and Local Browser Storage

The Center for Advanced Academics uses WordPress, JetPack for WordPress, and Moodle for providing our services. These platforms use cookies and your browser’s local storage to facilitate logging in and out of your account and for anonymized browsing statistics. 

We use Google Analytics on our website to collect and analyze information about how visitors interact with our site. This helps us analyze the performance of our website and make improvements. Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies to gather information. The information sent to Google Analytics is stored in a manner which does not personally identify individual users.

If you do not wish to have your data collected through Google Analytics, you can opt out by using the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On, available at Google Analytics Opt-Out.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles and lessons on our sites may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Data Retention

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. 

The lessons and classwork produced by teachers and students in our course offerings may be retained indefinitely.

Legally Required Disclosure

We reserve the right to disclose your information if required to do so by law. We also maintain the rights to transfer your information in case of a corporate restructuring, such as a merger or acquisition.

Changes to this Policy

Because of the dynamic nature of the Internet, we will changes to this policy periodically. We expect most changes to be minor, or to more clearly state our policies. If changes are more significant, we’ll communicate that with our users.
