The Center for Advanced Academics offers online, asynchronous courses designed for gifted, talented, and high-achieving students in grades 5–8. Students complete coursework on their own schedules while remaining enrolled in their local schools and participating in their communities.

Through advanced reading, writing, discussion, research, and project-based learning, students engage in meaningful academic challenge beyond the traditional classroom. Along the way, they connect with intellectual peers from across Wisconsin, sharing ideas, perspectives, and a passion for learning.

Since 2002, the Center for Advanced Academics has provided advanced learning opportunities to thousands of Wisconsin students. Through rigorous coursework, thoughtful discussion, and lasting academic connections, learners from communities across the state have found challenge, inspiration, and a place where their curiosity is celebrated.

Today, students from urban, suburban, and rural districts alike continue to connect through a shared love of learning and a desire to explore ideas beyond the traditional classroom. While most learning takes place asynchronously, many courses also offer optional in-person gatherings, giving students the chance to collaborate, build friendships, and experience hands-on learning with peers who share their passions.

He has absolutely LOVED this experience.  I have never seen him more engaged in schoolwork.  He has grown so much in time management, engagement, and academic language in general.  This has been a top notch experience for him.”

“There were many things that were great about this class! But the one thing that really stood out to me was how hard the class was. Not in a bad way but I like how the class really took me to my limits and pushed me even farther than I thought I could go.”
– 5th Grade Student

“Students who have participated in the classes have been impacted tremendously… Engaging with other gifted peers is critical to their development especially when they are from different areas.”
– Maria Nygard, Middleton-Cross Plains School District
